Why do I get an SSL/certificate error in my mail client? Print

This usually means your mail client is using your domain name as the server while the SSL certificate is issued for a different hostname. The fix is to use the server's correct secure hostname.

  1. Open cPanel, go to Email Accounts, click Connect Devices, and note the exact secure incoming and outgoing server names shown there.
  2. In your mail client, set both incoming and outgoing servers to mail.yourdomain.com (or the exact name listed).
  3. Use SSL/TLS with IMAP port 993 and SMTP port 465.

Make sure AutoSSL has issued a certificate for your mail hostname; new domains may need a short wait. If the error persists after using the listed server name, please open a ticket with a screenshot of the error.
