How do I create an FTP account? Print

To add a new FTP account in cPanel:

1. Log in to your cPanel.
2. Under Files, open FTP Accounts.
3. Enter a Log In name and choose yourdomain.com from the domain list.
4. Set a strong Password (use the Password Generator).
5. Set the Directory to limit access - for example public_html for full site access, or a subfolder to restrict the user.
6. Click Create FTP Account.

Your full FTP username is usually user@yourdomain.com. Use your server hostname (in your welcome email) as the FTP host. For better security, connect over SFTP or FTP with TLS. Manage or delete accounts anytime from the same page in your client area cPanel.
