How do I enable hotlink protection? Print

  • 0

Hotlink protection stops other websites from embedding your images and files directly, which saves your bandwidth. To enable it:

  1. Log in to cPanel.
  2. Under Security, open Hotlink Protection.
  3. Confirm the list of URLs to allow access includes your own domain (with and without www) and https:// versions.
  4. In Block direct access for the following extensions, list file types to protect, such as jpg, jpeg, png, gif, webp, pdf.
  5. Optionally allow direct requests (for users typing the URL) and set a redirect URL.
  6. Click Enable.

Test by trying to load an image from another site. If your own pages stop showing images, make sure your full domain (including https://) is in the allow list. You can disable it the same way at any time.
