Hotlink protection stops other websites from embedding your images and files directly, which saves your bandwidth. To enable it:
- Log in to cPanel.
- Under Security, open Hotlink Protection.
- Confirm the list of URLs to allow access includes your own domain (with and without
www) andhttps://versions. - In Block direct access for the following extensions, list file types to protect, such as
jpg,jpeg,png,gif,webp,pdf. - Optionally allow direct requests (for users typing the URL) and set a redirect URL.
- Click Enable.
Test by trying to load an image from another site. If your own pages stop showing images, make sure your full domain (including https://) is in the allow list. You can disable it the same way at any time.
