When you delete a file in cPanel File Manager, it usually goes to the Trash first, so you can often recover it:
- Open File Manager.
- Click View Trash (top toolbar) or open the Trash folder.
- Find your file, right-click it, and choose Restore - it returns to its original location.
If you permanently emptied the Trash or used Skip the trash when deleting, the file is gone from File Manager. In that case, check whether a backup exists:
- Look in cPanel Backup or Backup Wizard for a recent copy.
- If your plan includes account backups, you may be able to request a restore.
If you need help recovering from a server backup, open a ticket with the file path and approximate date - act quickly, as backups rotate over time.
