Outdated software is the top cause of hacks, so updates are your best defense. For most sites:
- Log in to your CMS admin (WordPress, Joomla, etc.) and update the core, themes, and plugins regularly.
- If you installed via Softaculous in cPanel, use its update and auto-update features to keep apps current.
- Delete plugins, themes, and apps you no longer use — every extra component is a risk.
- Choose a supported PHP version under Select PHP Version (MultiPHP Manager) in cPanel.
