cPanel's manual Backup tool does not run on a timer, but you can automate backups a few ways:
- Remote/cloud backups: if your cPanel has Backup destinations, configure a remote target (FTP, Google Drive, or Dropbox via a plugin) so copies are sent automatically.
- CMS plugins: for WordPress, tools like UpdraftPlus can schedule daily or weekly backups to cloud storage.
- JetBackup: if available on your server, it manages scheduled backups and self-service restores.
- Cron job: advanced users can script a database/file dump and schedule it under cPanel Cron Jobs.
