FTP failures are usually wrong credentials, the wrong port/mode, or a firewall block after failed logins. Verify your settings first.
- Use the host, username, and password from your welcome email or from cPanel FTP Accounts. The host is normally
ftp.yourdomain.comor your server hostname. - For plain FTP use port 21; for secure FTPS also port 21 with explicit TLS. SFTP uses port 22 (SSH).
- Switch your client (FileZilla) to Passive mode.
- Too many wrong passwords can trigger a temporary firewall block on your IP — wait and retry from the correct details.
If connections still fail or time out, note your public IP and open a ticket so we can check for a block.
